The Challenge: LinkedIn account bans
A prominent SaaS platform for LinkedIn automation reached out for help to avoid account bans for its users. Their platform is designed to help users scale their professional outreach, so the threat of mass account restrictions is existential.
Originally, the platform required end-users to source and configure their own proxies, but it created two major vulnerabilities:
Low-quality proxies. Users tend to purchase cheap, low-reputation proxies that were already flagged by security algorithms.
“Impossible travel.” A user might log in from New York while their purchased proxy is connected from London. Such a geolocation mismatch triggers an immediate security red flag, causing account restrictions.
Users blamed the automation software even though the bans were caused by low-quality third-party proxies. The automation platform faced a reputational crisis as user trust diminished and churn rates increased. They needed a solution that was invisible to the user but sophisticated enough to guarantee account health.
The Solution: Precision Geolocation and Invisible Integration
They partnered with anyIP to completely overhaul their proxy infrastructure. Instead of relying on users to bring their own proxies, the client integrated anyIP’s proxies directly into their backend via API.
To solve the issue of account bans, we have engineered a custom solution focused on the geolocation precision of IP addresses:
Latitude/longitude matching. We developed a feature to filter IPs by exact latitudes and longitudes. When a user logs in, the system automatically assigns a residential proxy that matches their physical coordinates. Such precision eliminates the “impossible travel” trigger entirely.
Seamless backend assignment. The proxy assignment became a background process. New users no longer had to configure settings manually. They simply signed up, and the secure connection was established in the background instantly.
Granular control. Unique proxy credentials were generated for each user by the anyIP API. Traffic consumption and account health monitoring for every user became possible, further reducing the risk of account restrictions.
The Results: Zero Bans in Three Years
The primary goal of securing user accounts was completely achieved. Since integrating anyIP’s geolocation-matched solution, the client has secured 100% of accounts.
Eliminated ban risk. Over three years of partnership, no accounts have been banned due to proxy or location-based flagging. The “impossible travel” friction point was completely removed.
Restored brand trust. The client solidified its reputation as a secure platform by ensuring the safety of user accounts. This was followed by improved customer reviews and a reduction in support tickets related to account restrictions.
While safety was the main concern, our integration unlocked significant secondary growth:
New revenue stream. The client now resells anyIP’s proxies with a price markup as part of their subscription package. Not only are they capturing revenue that previously went to third-party providers, but they are also making additional income.
Higher conversions and retention. User onboarding steps were simplified, removing the frictions introduced by the complex process of purchasing and integrating third-party proxies. Long-term user retention also improved, as the tool was easier to use.
