# Account & Data Deletion

> How to close your anyIP account, what happens when support closes it.

This page explains how to close your anyIP account and what happens afterward. For login problems, see [Account Access Troubleshooting](/docs/guides/account-access-troubleshooting). For refunds, see [Billing & Data](/docs/guides/billing-and-data#refunds).

## Account closure

When you request account deletion. Support will close your account and once your account is closed:

* The account can no longer connect to the proxies.
* Your proxy credentials will no longer work.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A disabled proxy user is not the same as a deleted account. If you need your account closed, you can contact support so that support can close it.

## Request account closure

**1. Contact support from the dashboard**

Open a conversation with support from your dashboard. Send the request from the email address on your account, or include that email in your message so support can find the account.

**2. Confirm the request**

Support may ask why you are closing the account. Answering is optional and does not affect the request. Support then asks you to confirm before they disable the account.

**3. Support disables the account**

Once you confirm, support disables the account. From that point, your proxy credentials stop connecting.

## Before you close your account

Closing the account does not refund any payment. If a recent card payment is still inside the 14-day refund window and you want a refund, ask for it separately. Crypto payments are non-refundable. See [Billing & Data](/docs/guides/billing-and-data#refunds) for the full rules.

## What you can remove yourself

Some items can be managed directly in the dashboard:

* Proxy profiles. You can delete a proxy profile from the [Proxies page](https://anyip.io/account/proxies). See [Delete a profile](/docs/guides/dashboard-v2-migration#delete-a-profile).
* Proxy users. A proxy user cannot be deleted. You can disable it or change its password from the **Proxy users** tab. See [Activate a disabled proxy user](/docs/guides/dashboard-v2-migration#activate-a-disabled-proxy-user).

If you shared proxy credentials with anyone, disabling the proxy user or changing its password stops them from using your traffic.
